Poem #3

By Mal McGuiness

My heart

Was a puzzle

in pieces before

it could ever be

whole

My heart was

scattered on the floor of bedrooms

on sidewalks of lonely walks home

And each lover

who could wrap his hands around my brain

convince me I had captured his heart

Left my life with a souvenir gift,

a piece of my puzzle,

a piece of my heart
