A New Home

By Samantha Davey

I inhabit a new home

My body is free

My mind roams

A soulless fiend circulates the air

Invisible to the eye

Present deep down in the darkness of my heart

I used to think you were one to behold

A person I could share my life with

My body said yes, but my heart said no

Safe and sound in my new home I will be

Without the agonizing pain of your touch
