A love reproached

By Jesse Seidel

In days of yore I’d have went by the trees

Their glist’ning leaved are drenched in summer’s rain

The sun shone through the boughs I thought of pain

How kind your eyes were piercing through the scenes

The clouds themselves departed at your sight

The trees I’m with were faded by your grace

The days degrade deprived of your embrace

With you ev’n darkness becomes the light

The wind itself whispered only your name

But what you did will bring you only shame

The flowers wilt with fear at your approach

The spark has died and only cold remains

What I do mean there’s no true love attained

Your whole life will be lived with just reproach
