Spinning

By Savannah Lanz

Around and around and around, the world keeps spinning

Autumn leaves swirling like ashes, the world keeps spinning

Deep dark eyes that warm and glisten like mahogany

It’s those eyes that keep me up while the world keeps spinning

Snow buries thick evergreens on the northern mountains

Bracing the cold and tall they stand, the world keeps spinning

If missing you came in waves, I’d be drowning right now

And yet you’re not here, but slowly the world keeps spinning

Like sand in an hour glass, or shadows on a sundial

Twirling, revolving, evolving, the world keeps spinning

A large kaleidoscope of sapphires and emeralds

No matter how dizzy things may seem, the world keeps spinning

The stars shoot, the sun shines, and the full moon says good night

For some reason, on her axis, the world keeps spinning
