Things I think Across Skin

By Elena Lipsiea

1.
i wish these little white lines wrote stories somewhere else
somewhere not on me
along my hip
and purpled red around back bending knees
unfit, uneven ghost threads
woven tough
stealing all tender
from mid-thigh to top

2.
i hate these black and blues
polka dot stains
making
hiding
from you
or
even just me
near impossible
shame
claiming royalty’s long forgotten shade

3.
i close seeing eyes' sight as I run
fingertips raw
atop
the raised flesh growing
blemished
and
scarred
and
afraid
